A workaholic securities litigator in New York City, Liv wants to escape the city after dealing with a number of life-changing events. When she hitches a ride with photographer Sam and pilot George on a small plane to Inuvik in northern Canada, they crash in the middle of nowhere. After escaping the plane, Liv must brave the wilderness while making peace with who she’s become.
Danny
A co-worker of Liv’s, Danny is set up with Liv by their colleague, Ruth. Liv initially brushes off sweet and charming Danny after they share a late night together. Initially concerned about mixing business and pleasure, the two become close — but he has trouble getting past her hardened exterior.

A National Geographic photographer who’s headed to take pictures of the caribou in Inuvik, he initially refuses to let Liv catch a flight with him and his pilot, George, then gives in when she won’t take no for an answer. But while reassuring Liv that turbulence is nothing to worry about, the plane begins to nosedive.
George
George pilots a plane to transport Sam to Inuvik. At the last minute, Liv joins their flight, which crashes in the middle of nowhere, leaving the survivors stranded.

Liv’s Argentinian mom, Lucia, is a painter. She and Tomás’ volatile marriage heavily affects Liv’s emotional wellbeing as a child and has lasting consequences on her adulthood. Lucia is impulsive and has unpredictable outbursts, which often cause her to forget about young Liv.
